Sarah Mullenbach Music Scholarship

The 2006 recipient of this scholarship was Chris Sesvold. Throughout high school Chris was involved in band, choir, orchestra and jazz band. He was in vocal jazz for 3 years and the show band for 2 years. Some how he also found time to sing in the Holmen Lutheran Senior choir and the ACTS worship band.

Chris is attending Winona State University with a major in music education. We will continue playing the trumpet in the band there and in the orchestra playing viola. He also plans on continuing his music groups at Holmen Lutheran.

Congratulations to Chris.

Sarah Mullenbach Memorial scholarship 2007.

We are anxiously waiting for this year's applicants. This year's easy questions is, You are Earth's representative to speak to a new intelligent species. What would you tell them about humans?

Golf

This year's SAMMS tournament will be held Monday July 23rd at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek. Please see the entry form, which can be downloaded from this site. Registration can also be made by contacting Cedar Creek. Please see the pictures from last year's tournament in the photo album section. Last year's tournament raised enough money to be able to donate $750 to Derek Kroll who is fighting a rare form of cancer. The tournament organizers hope to donate part of the proceeds to an individual or organization every year. We all know Sarah would love this idea.

Sarah Mullenbach Sportsmanship award.

The 2006 award had co-winners. Sharing the award were Karen Moon of Onalaska and Elise Rooney of Holmen. The award is given to the MVC payer who best displays compassion, positive attitude, fair play, respect, competitive spirit and love of the game. Congratulations for Karen and Elise (Sarah's freshman).

Piano dedication

The foundation was very happy to donate a baby grand piano to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Holmen. Sarah sang in the choir there. There was a wonderful dedication ceremony on Dec 3rd to start out the advent season. Thank you to everyone who helped in the planning of the dedication and all who took part. A special thank you to Beth Lakman for the planning of the music and for playing the piano so beautifully.

Very special guest.

The foundation is very happy to announce that Miss America 2006, Jennifer Berry, has agreed to come to the LaCrosse area and do several presentations on the dangers of drunk driving and underage drinking. At this point we have Miss Berry scheduled to speak at Viterbo University on Monday September 17th and UWL on September 18th. She will also be at HHS one of those days. We will post a picture and bio of Miss Berry at a later date. Jennifer's platform was the dangers of drunk driving and she has been a national spokesperson for MADD.
